Ako Panuku Hui ā-Tau | Tuesday 5 October 2021
Due to Covid kaiako (teachers) around the motu (nation) have all been in pivot mode. It has wrought many challenges, forcing us to reframe and rethink the way we are teaching, learning and engaging with our ākonga (students). The following are some of the keynote speakers and presenters who speak on some of these challenges, as well as some possible solutions for kaiako to help them navigate these uncertain landscapes.
The main solution that I had gleaned from this conference, was that our solutions and answers can be found in our past, our histories, our mātauranga Māori, our tūpuna (ancestors). Mā muri ka taea te koke whakamua – In order to advance forward we must look to our past.
Ako Panuku really put on hākari (feast) with the line-up of speakers they had at the Hui ā-tau. My hinengaro (mind), tinana (body), and wairua (spirit) surged with energy and power with every mouthful of kai that was offered up at this online gathering.
